Pros
- Got solid experience working with municipal systems like drainage, sewer, and pavement. - Had a hands-on role building interactive web maps and GIS apps. - The work was steady and predictable, which made it easy to stay on track.
Cons
- Not a lot of room to move up or grow your career. - Most projects were pretty repetitive and standard — mostly DOT or municipal stuff, nothing too exciting. - A lot of monotonous fieldwork, often in rough conditions, and it didn’t really help build new skills. - Didn’t get many chances to work on automation, research, or more advanced GIS work. - Solid for beginners, but it kind of stalls out if you're aiming higher.
