Pros

The people! Most of them anyway. Lagoon day, overstocktober and other fun events. That’s about all I can think of at the moment.

Cons

Nepotism, known abusers (yes, actual abusers) in the work place with no action taken even though the abused victim works in house (HR was advised, nothing was done), management doesn’t seem to care about their people. There are some wonderful managers and some who wouldn’t know a color on a can of paint. The entire culture has changed since the change in President. there are a lot of people who absolutely are hating life in this work place. HR is totally useless, they don’t have any care for the people in the building coming to them for help, and all of them gossip - so be careful who you’re discussing issues with. Even your pay is discussed amongst the floor as well as your drama, which I’d assume is not legal. Pay is meh. Don’t believe the hype about being competitive as far as pay. Bonus structure.... promised, doesn’t deliver. People are drained - and loads of your best employees are actively looking for new jobs. Keep your eyes open to how and who is trying to throw good workers under the bus and, just... don’t trust anyone. Sadly, some of our best employees are already leaving due to many more issues I cannot speak on.

Pros

Fast paced environment with LOTS of hands-on experience with many different tools. The people are the reason to stay, lots of smart and caring people, managers, and leaders towards the bottom of the food chain.

Cons

Upper Management has completely destroyed this company and gutted it. In my several years at the company, communication is as poor as it could be. Bonuses are promised and then not followed up on. RIFs happen far too frequently. It is abundantly clear that this company does NOT care about it's employees, and at the moment is almost seems like they are trying as hard as they can to get people to quit so they don't have to pay severances before acquiring more companies and moving headquarters to Texas. The culture in the days of Overstock was incredible, it made people excited about being able to work there. Now people are hanging on by threads, large teams are now carried on the backs of just 1-2 people without additional pay as we see co-workers get laid off left and right. It is not sustainable. Important things are being missed because there are not enough people to do the work, which will end up biting the company in the butt for compliance and finance reasons.
