Pros

Few places give an employee the freedom to be themselves as well as truly autonomous. Having now been at Black Pepper just over a year I can honestly say that my experience is highly positive. The SMT here are open, straight forward and caring. This is incredibly important to me. I am given the ability to be master of my own destiny and that is empowering. It enables me to bring the full weight of my 23 years software sales experience to the job without anyone feeling that they have to "micro-manage" me which has lead me to slaughter my targets. For a relatively small organisation the standard of software development that I have witnessed here in terms of client satisfaction is outstanding. The little touches like free fruit, biscuits, soft drinks, parking to name a few all add up to a low stress environment that brings out the best in you. My boss enables me to push ahead trusting me expertise which is critical to me and my style of working.

Cons

I can't really think of any but if I was going to be really fussy I would say that sometimes the parking can be tricky with the car park being so small but really that is probably more a indicator that we need to move to a bigger premises soon which is the net product of growth and success.

Pros

The people are really smart and that is the biggest plus I could hope for. This allows me to have challenging fun conversations at work, as well as be confident that I can trust my colleagues to go above and beyond when it comes to doing their job. The company culture is very flexible - they are focused on results, not processes, and as such as long as you get things done, it doesn't matter what you wear to work, when you come in in the morning or whether you'd like to work from home one particular day. There's a good number of social events, either company-organised or self-organised, and as such plenty of opportunities to get to know and bond with your team. They offer fair pay and good benefits and are always willing to consider additional benefits for staff. The fact that they offer a minimum of 5 days of training per year really shows their commitment to staff.

Cons

The work space could be better. Right now, it's a bit bland, but as far as I understand, there are plans to improve that.
