Pros
The team get to work on some exciting challenges and code some amazing work for a product that does a lot of work for the intelligence market. There is a fairly flat structure with the team and a lot of good fringe benefits including decent coffee, fresh fruit and loads of drinks and cakes! Some exciting development on the latest tech which is great. Loads of space to learn new stuff on the job.
Cons
Lots of in-fighting with the Directors and indecision on the roadmap means that everyone is chasing the tactical choices for work rather than defining the plans for the long-term business goals. The Product Team are very young and do not understand how to really work strategically and therefore the main interaction with Development is based on issues or small "wins". The Senior Board directors however are not aligned - and this makes it a worrying place to work. No core leadership visionary - its clear that there is a lot of friction on what needs to be created for the greater good of the business. They are very critical at a Senior Level of the staff members and a lot of comments are passed in meetings and overhead in conversations about this which is totally inappropriate. No appraisal process and very little in the way of HR management which makes it hard to look at a career here... Only some of the team get to work on the latest tech, and this causes resentment with the other team members. Loads of grumblings in the kitchen over this!
