Pros
They were nice to me. That's literally it.
Cons
This location is held together by hopes and dreams. Many red flags were obvious to me in the beginning - asking me to work during the interview, the fact that aside from the manager there were only two other employees, the fact that my drink took quite a while to make - but I decided to give them a try. I'd worked at Starbucks for 4 years prior to this so I had quite a lot of standards. However, in the mere six hours I was employed, there were so many more red flags. I was barely taught how to make the drinks and how the machines worked. Because there was only one employee working aside from me, many times there wasn't time to train me because customers had to be dealt with. Often, the people who trained me would do things for me instead of showing me how or why things needed to be done. Additionally, I did not feel like their standards were adequate, like the fact that they barely wiped their steam wants and reused steamed milk. After barely being trained for six hours and realizing that they expected me to work by myself already, I quit. The worst part was that when I asked about payment, I was told that training is only paid if the employee continues with employment, and that employee contracts are only signed after the training period is completed. This is extremely absurd and suspicious behaviour. Other Blenz employees have told me that even those who were fired in their first week were paid for the few hours they worked.
