Blu Homes Response
10yDear "No Way",
Thank you for your feedback - it looks like you wrote in January 2016 when we unfortunately had some layoffs, and are a former employee.
I am sorry you had a negative experience and always welcome candid feedback, but given the claims you are making, the company needs to set the record straight on several of your points.
In the last two years California has undergone the greatest period of inflation in home prices, in recent history. This has provided both a challenge, and opportunity. The challenge for Blu has been holding prices constant while costs in many cases, rose 15-20% annually, in our key geographies. We wrote a detailed blog about this to express to our customers, and others, why we needed to make a price increase after holding prices low, for years.
We are not dishonest with our clients, but we do often have to deliver difficult news given the rising cost environment and the complex land development process in California, which can be stressful for both clients and employees. I am sorry if you experienced the challenge of this as part of the sales team. It is incorrect that we only focus on projects where we can quickly make money --- in point of fact, many of our projects have been low to no margin, as we have worked hard to keep customers' prices down in a rising cost environment.
You are absolutely right that we have work to do on employee development, and this is something our management team is very focused on . We welcome suggestions and would be delighted to hear from you - at maura@bluhomes.com or through our HR team.
Many thanks,
Maura McCarthy, co-founder
