Pros
They pay well, managers get to park across the street and the stores operating hours are the best I’ve come across in retail.
Cons
Where do I start! Nepotism and favoritism run rampant, they are a core part of the culture in the store. The lack of professionalism is something that I have never seen before in my career. Inappropriate comments are made about sex, race, religion, politics, etc on a daily basis. I’ve seen horse play by executives, threats of violence by supervisors to subordinates among other things. Your only as good as your sales contribution to the owner. The sales floor operates on a turn system which is viewed as a privilege by the owner. The amount of employee turnover I’ve witnessed in my time here is unrivaled by any company I have worked for prior. Holiday season everyone is expected to work 6 day weeks open to close everyday. Hourly employees get overtime but obviously salaried employees do not. The average day year round is 9.5 hours with a half hour break. Benefits are outrageously priced to the point where it’s cheaper on healthcare.gov.
