A truly toxic and awful place to work - Teacher Brampton Manor Academy Employee Review

Pros

Students are driven and lovely - many of them even recognise the awful treatment of staff and show more empathy than the school leaders

Cons

Please do not work for this school. Everything you need to know about its treatment of staff can be summarised in the legal case which the school lost against an ex-employee: just search Yasmin Omar vs Brampton Manor Academy and you can read the judgement which found the school guilty of harassment and discrimination against the staff member. They've tried to bury the case but there's no hiding from the continued maltreatment of staff. Grief and sick pay remain false promises made by the head and there is a severe lack of empathy from the leaders. If you are brave enough to take a day off you are questioned and undermined by the SLT that you must call to report your absence. The reason this is even more frustrating is because staff are overworked to the maximum. From the endless amount of mock examinations that take place, the references that A-Level teachers write for every student (even if the student is applying for a subject not related to the teachers discipline), to the spoon feeding of students to ensure they get the grades for Oxbridge. You will not progress at this school unless you give up your life for it and all middle leaders work ridiculous hours. Many of the middle leaders do actually buy into the toxicity of the school to protect their own position and salary which is a real shame. You will question the profession if you go to this school and deserve much better than the toxicity, gaslighting, and disrespect you will get at BMA. For your own sake, do not work here.
