Pros

As the first start-up company in my career ladder, Brighter has exceeded many of my expectations with its focus on technology and dental marketplace. I was blown away by the user experience that epitomizes all of the Brighter platform features and functionality that customers from my previous employers have always wanted. At the same time, the company as a whole is not satisfied and constantly innovates to further enhance our product and services. Folks that work here are young, energetic, and willing to learn from industry pros and seasoned tech/healthcare executives that guide the company strategy, product directions, and customer-focused-centric culture. Not sure if all other start-ups are the same way, but Brighter has definitely proved my decision to be the right one.

Cons

Being 5 blocks from the ocean means a long commute from most places in LA county. Thank goodness that the Metro now goes to Santa Monica, and the station is only 3 blocks from the office.

Pros

The job is easy. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to sell something that is free.

Cons

The role is a hogwash, which is why there is so much turnover. In a year of working there, I've seen over 15 people leave, and not one person in the PRA role was promoted, but many were asked to leave. While they say they want high performers to establish themselves and take on more responsibilities and grow with the company, that is not the case. They are looking for call bots to make the same calls day in and day out. While they ask for input on different aspects of marketing, they are hesitant to make use of sound input, and are unwilling to help you grow out of your one role and take on new responsibilities. As the CFO says, they already have two team leads and they don't need anymore. At the same time the E level on this team says, they cannot continue to give PRAs projects because PRAs are needed to make phone calls; that is why they were hired. There are a few fake titles they will dangle in front of you to keep you motivated, but you will see those titles don't change the responsibilities one has. A senior PRA does exactly what a new higher does except the hammer comes down a lot harder when you don't meet goal.

We are sorry this person didn’t have a positive experience while working at Brighter. However, we would like lay out the facts of the PRA role to ensure candidates have the correct information available: • Since the beginning of 2016, we have promoted 9 (of our total 18 (at the time, now 26)) employees in the Provider team. 6 were promotions to Senior PRA, 2 were promoted to Team Lead (with one more Team Lead to come in Q2 2017), and 1 promotion to senior manager. • The Provider team has also been an excellent incubator for talent in the rest of the organization. We currently have former Provider team members working in Product Development, Engineering, Client Services and IT. • The Provider Relations Associate Role is a training role for entry level employees. For those that are very successful in their role, we promote them to Senior PRA, and then to Team Lead (as required by the growth in the department). Senior PRA’s receive significant increases on both their base salary and commission. • When we hire for this role, we make it clear to incoming PRA's that there is a tremendous amount of growth opportunity within the company and outside of the company for folks who approach the role with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. However, sometimes the role is not a good fit and we do our best to accommodate team members when it is not working out by providing a soft landing. We have found that, in almost all cases, PRA's develop valuable new skills and an understanding of the inter-workings of a successful technology company backed by top tier Venture Capital firms.
