Pros

The main benefits of working at Bruce Power are the benefits, the pay, and the individual people.

Cons

The downside of working at Bruce Power especially in projects is that it is a very toxic work culture. You get zero authority and all the responsibility. Management doesn't trust you. You will be criticized on everything you do, no matter how well done it was. You have no time to do work, and many of your team members are unqualified. The division is disorganized and has zero training but all the expectations. And the expectations and targets are always changing. You are not setup for success; just for frustration and long hours. Finally the majority of management do not actually follow in practice the core values. Do not believe the propaganda of their brilliant social media marketing of how it is to work there.

Pros

I am a professional engineer of a certain age who was frankly fed up with dysfunctional and toxic workplaces. I had turned down several other lucrative offers on that basis before BP came calling, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found here. There has clearly been a lot of thought put into their organizational principles and practices, which help workers to produce their best. This extends to the physical comfort of the workspace, which is important for me. In summary, a very progressive management philosophy. The approach to safety is comprehensive. They support your specific training needs, in fact they insist on it!

Cons

None really. Some other reviewers here gripe about the weather (it's Canada) and the distance from Toronto (aka the centre of the universe). Probably The same ones who didn't want a nuclear PP built downtown I guess.
