Pros
Businessolver does hire very talented and smart people. They do end up treating those people terribly, but you will at least be surrounded by great people when you're feeling your worst. The pay is competitive and they give you free food.
Cons
Where to even begin? If I could give 0 stars I would. Businessolver is toxic. I was with this company for nearly 3 years. They started out being the best company I've ever worked for and ended as the worst company I've ever worked for. I'll start with your HR practices, which are largely nonexistent. Employees are encouraged not to talk to HR because this is seen as "going behind your manager's back." And HR does tell your supervisor what you say, so be mindful of complaining about your supervisor to HR. They screwed over all of Participant Services pay in the month of April by changing us from salary non-exempt to hourly, shorting us 16 hours of pay. When I talked to HR about this, I was told that if we're really that starving we can just steal some cheese sticks since the company provides free food. Nice. I don't really think that I can pay my bills in cheese sticks, but thank you for the lack of help there. Annual Enrollment is a complete joke. This is a company that manages benefits, yet they can't figure out that they're going to need more staff for 3 months of the year. Instead of hiring temporary workers, they will just make their current employees work 50-60 hours (this is mandatory, they don't care if you have children to take care of). You will be expected to work some weekends. They won't prepare you for this, it'll just come out in a last minute e-mail and they'll expect you to figure it out. They can't do it in Colorado because thankfully the law protects workers, but in Iowa they encourage people to not take breaks/lunches during your shift. Just work 50 hours a week and only get up from your desk to take bathroom breaks. Stop wondering why your turnover rate is high... And management? Awful. There are a few decent managers in the Iowa location, but the Denver "leadership" team is laughable (with the exception of Bennie... if you're lucky enough to get on Bennie's team, your life will suck less). It's the leadership team from DirecTv, so if you left there, you're probably going to hate Businessolver too. Your employees left DirecTv for a reason. The reason certainly was not so that they could have the managers they hated follow them to their new job. Businessolver doesn't promote to supervisor/trainer from within, meaning that your boss will know absolutely nothing about your job. They know how to track your metrics, but don't ask them questions about your job because they don't know. Your peers do and they will be happy to help you. You will be expected to be licensed in life/health. At times they have been okay about giving continuing education, but for the most part, just don't even bother. Multiple people begged for continuing education for our licenses and ongoing training for job related things and it was always pushed to the back burner. When your employees go above and beyond normal job responsibilities for you, the least you could do is give them the training they're asking for. Participant services is completely segmented from the rest of the company. They have different rules and they're treated horribly. Businessolver says over and over that Participant Services is the "heart of the company." Okay, start acting like that. Why would you treat someone you supposedly like, like garbage? Participant services is treated like a bunch of children. They are the front lines of the company, yet you don't trust them and you don't respect them. They will NOT listen to you when you bring your concerns to them. If you still, for some reason, decide to accept an employment offer with Businessolver after reading all the negative reviews, know that your voice will not be heard. They will give you free food and alcohol and expect you to put a big fake smile on your face and at least pretend that you love Businessolver.
