Pros

Note: this is for the Houston office only. Pros include: hybrid work structure

Cons

The managers at the Houston location do not hold themselves to same expectations as they do the rest of the staff. This job is extremely dependent on teamwork. You all have your clients in the Houston area that give you several jobs to recruit for. You need to easily be able to access information to inform candidates of what we have to offer. The expectation set out by the managers is to update the staff on every job we are recruiting on. This happens via shared documents, emails that go out to the team with every bit of info one could need to speak confidently about what we are offering. The manager hardly ever updates shared documents on what she wants us to recruit on for her. She doesn’t send out complete information for us to be able to speak confidently on anything she’s doing on her desk, but will want us to interview people for the jobs she’s recruiting for. When you have to approach managers with questions because of this lack of information, you are made to feel like you are doing something wrong by asking. But don’t you dare NOT have the information and go with your gut because you’ll certainly be chewed out. The training mostly goes to another colleague who is approachable. However, the need to tip toe around direct supervisors and ask someone else before asking them a question is less than desirable. They boast that there is excellent culture here. I think that could be true if not for the managers. However, they’ve been there for decades and nothing they do or say will remove them from their position. Extra tidbits: The manager announced a coworkers pregnancy to the entire team without her consent. She has also said the R word in the office unironically (if there is an acceptable ironic form of the R word, let me know). But don’t worry!! You have nice new chairs and a new ice maker, no reason to be ungrateful! (Personal anecdote from an actual conversation where the manager couldn’t fathom that the culture here is anything less than the fantasy she’s created in her head.) The manager drunkenly belittled a coworker in front of everyone at the company Christmas party. People were trying to get her to stop but she just went in. This was a major turning point for our office and nothing has been the same since. She also pressured sober employees to drink in order to have a good time. To the point where another coworker just handed the employees a cup in order to shut her up. If you choose to work here. Come to work, put your head down, do your job as best you can with the scattered information you are given, and go home. Don’t let them influence you to sit on your computer till 9:00 pm. You may recruit accountants, but you’re not an accountant. The managers here are just genuinely not good people, but they put on a good show. That’s sales!

Pros

CFS and Kelly Miller are the best! Kelly is the best "match-maker", always responsive, and truly cares about her clients and candidates. Kelly spends a crazy amount of time getting to know the client and all her candidates. She doesn't just "plug" a person into a job; she matches the skills, work-styles, and personalities. I have been expertly matched to two long-term assignments that were a perfect match of her client's needs and my skills. I can honestly say that those two assignments have been the BEST work experiences in my career; the second assignment turned into a permanent placement with a fabulous company. Win, win, win! As the saying goes "your mileage may vary"; the job market and economy may not always support your individual needs, and that is not the fault of the recruiter. The recruiter is not a magician, they are a partner in your job search. In my experience, be the hardest-working party in your job search. Polish your resume, polish your shoes, iron your shirt, bring your "A" game and present yourself in the best light; the next great opportunity might be just around the corner. If there is an opportunity that matches you, Kelly will find it. I highly recommend CFS and Kelly Miller.

Cons

No Cons, all experiences are positive.
