The wonderful people they hire at CG quickly become frustrated due to a lack of onboarding (a 30-60-90 plan which is just a checklist of videos to watch and nothing more), no mentorship and managers who got promoted without ever having demonstrated an ability to manage well. Many account managers have no idea about the substance of the accounts they manage, writers are overly relied upon to manage their accounts AND produce content, but are barely paid enough to do one of those jobs. Promotions come slowly if they come at all. Many employees are hired right out of academia so they are well qualified but paid poorly which leads to high turnover. Management doesn't seem to think its tone deaf to announce a sabbatical program for employees with over 6 years of service (a criteria only the highest level directors meet) while everyone else gets just under two weeks vacation annually. Everyone seems to run on a mantra of 'you'll figure it out' without putting in the time and training necessary to help employees learn and grow and impart institutional knowledge. Many knowledgeable and hardworking people are employed here and they will be shocked how much more money they can make and how much less chaotic their lives will be once they leave for a better structured company that actually invests in training and retaining its employees.
