Pros

Diverse team of analysts Easy work Only good if you want a simple job and no development

Cons

Terrible management within the human Intelligence team which has actually led to loss of revenue. A lot of this could be avoided by hiring more experienced senior managers who actually understand the nature of the work and have at least a semblance of respect for their staff. The head of the human Intelligence team has made it clear that they have very little regard for the team and has thus failed to even ensure secure working for remote staff. Crisp only considers those from particular ethnic and professional backgrounds for managerial positions; almost all line managers in HI are from the same ethnic and military or police background, and those who are from non-English backgrounds immensely struggle to obtain any professional development at Crisp, regardless of qualifications. Not only does this prevent various talented individuals from being able to contribute at a higher level, it also leaves management of critical work at the hands of under-qualified individuals whose relevant 'intelligence experience' is a couple of tours in Iraq (which is hardly useful for the nature of the work). As a result the company hosts a culture where management are so used to individuals simply following orders they are genuinely confused by the concept of questions and discussion, instead you are expected to simply do as told regardless of perhaps having useful suggestions or ideas. This environment will likely only continue as more and more diverse analysts leave and management push to hire more individuals more like themselves in the hope they will stay loyal and follow orders. It is not a place to actually work intelligently, develop skills or grow professionally. Almost no training is given, and self-taught skills get you through everything, which is good if you want something easy but not at all good for career development and a long term profession. Salary is not competitive, especially for expectations of weekend/Bank Holiday working.

CRISP Response

We’re sorry to read your response and can only hope that you raised your concerns with us whilst you were still a member of our team. We are proud of the diversity found within the Human Intelligence team, and this is a key factor in our success, ensuring that our team members are representative of the communities they serve, providing the cultural awareness so critical in understanding the nuances of written text, images and videos. Interestingly, this is supported by other reviews which call out the diversity in our team as being a strong positive. Diversity is also reflected in leadership in the Human Intelligence team, 50% of which is female, and although almost 20% are of diverse ethnicities, we are working hard to expand on this and hope to reflect more accurately the 30% ethnic diversity in our Analyst teams. Diversity also comes in the form of different backgrounds and experiences across our teams, and we have found military and law enforcement backgrounds bring deep subject matter expertise on very difficult topics which is invaluable to our clients. We are about to embark on our biggest learning and development activity to date and adding onto the foreign language training, report writing and intelligence techniques we provide and support with other courses and certifications which will continue to develop our teams. We regret that you felt you had to leave Crisp and we wish you well in your future career.
