Pros

1099; Tons of professional development and great people within the mix that want to see individuals succeed.

Cons

The owners of the company making up fees at every turn. It became costly without consideration and lost the meaning of "for trainers, by trainers," after turning itself into a more corporate structure. ESPECIALLY since they were make triple money on the small guys. Forcing E&O policy through their family and then having us pay more fees. All unfortunately lining their pockets. Also extremely political: not very savvy on the minority experience but consistently utilized minorities when suits their needs. A great example, many trainers are part of the LGBTQIA community, it was asked by some clients for support with rainbow shirts etc. they said no due to beliefs but then tragedy struck in orlando and they turn around and have "supportive" rainbow shirt.

Pros

You connect with your local community and you don't have to stress about setting up a website, insurance, etc.

Cons

A lot. The whole set-up is deceptive. They try to pitch the job as if you'll have the freedom of independent contractor but in reality they treat you as an employee without the benefits and pay of one. They say certain things are mandatory and required (which would be fair to ask of an employee) but seem to forget you are a contractor just operating under their umbrella. If you professionally question some of their decisions and demands, you are seen as "not a team player" and they remind you that your contract can be terminated. They use subtle fear tactics and lack true integrity.
