Pros
Cana is currently a small but growing team. It's a team where everyone works well together in a collaborative way. But, it's also a startup. A startup building something innovative that will define a new product category (hopefully), while also reducing packaging waste and transportation energy. So, there are plenty of technical and business problems to solve. We don't have all the answers, but we are figuring them out.
All this is to say that Cana has a group of smart and creative people. I learn from them everyday. The work is stimulating and encouraging. Everyone is helpful with guidance, but also rely on you to come up with good engineering solutions.
There are also monthly all-hands meetings where top management gives an overview of where we are, where we are going, how we plan to get there, and answers questions straight-up.
We are now moving into new office space in Redwood City (Chemistry team is in Emeryville). I'm looking forward to the new environment with the right mix of remote/on-premises.
Anyway, Cana's a great place to be.
Cons
Along with building a new innovative product comes some setbacks. It requires effort, experimentation, trial and error. Sometimes it can be frustrating.
