Cons
During my time at Carma, I found a significant gap between the company's stated values and the reality of the workplace culture. The organisation frequently promoted concepts such as employee growth, open feedback, continuous improvement, and setting people up for success. However, in practice, constructive feedback and alternative ideas were often met with resistance if they differed from established processes or protocols. Rather than encouraging innovation and collaboration, there appeared to be a culture where questioning existing methods could result in conflict, strained working relationships, or increased scrutiny. This created an environment where employees could feel undervalued and discouraged from contributing ideas that may have improved efficiency, quality, or outcomes. I also observed a disconnect between the messaging presented to employees and stakeholders and the day-to-day operational realities. This raised concerns regarding transparency, accountability, and organisational integrity. As the company continues to grow, I believe there would be significant benefit in fostering a culture that genuinely welcomes constructive feedback, values diverse perspectives, and aligns actions with the principles it promotes. While Carma has ambitious goals and strong potential, my experience was that rapid growth may have outpaced the development of the systems, leadership practices, and workplace culture required to effectively support employees and sustain long-term success.
