Pros
- There are some really great people at Carnegie Hall. - World class concerts. - The Carnegie Hall brand is recognized internationally. - Fairly generous time off.
Cons
- As mentioned in the title, there is lots of potential at this org. Lots of smart and hard working people. And, many of them are manager-level and below in rank. Much of this potential won't be achieved, as much as there is talk and discussion every season, given fundamental errors in pay, incentives, and, thus, morale. - There has been, in recent years, a drive to the bottom when it comes to paying employees. It's actually quite shocking how low the pay is for many of the entry-level employees, and even managers. I had joined Carnegie right when this pay pattern started to emerge. - I feel terrible that for many of the associate-level and below employees really didn't have much room to grow. It's really being at the right place at the right time, rather than be recognized for the value one may add every fiscal year to the team. - Many of the directors also have little say when it comes to giving merit based raises. And, as much as I hate to say it, many of them are also out of touch with reality when they're being compensated with 6-figures.
