Pros

The women (subordinates) are easy to get along with, work remote once a week

Cons

All male executive team, if you are not on that team it feels like you don't have a voice. Promises of equal salary, but it's way below market. Disorganized, poor guidance and leadership, no internal promotions, toxic work environment. Lunch breaks are frowned upon unless it's with the whole team. You get negative feedback for taking a breather outside.

Thank you for being a part of the Carrum family this past year and for your feedback. I’m going to do my best to address your concerns and am happy to continue this conversation with you any time offline. As you know, being a start-up in the Bay Area comes with unique challenges — building a health tech company and reinventing the industry is hard! Personally, as COO, I’m proud of the work we’ve done to foster a collaborative environment, prioritize diversity, and give talented team members career growth opportunities. I find it a bit surprising to hear you had such a negative experience and I wish we could have discussed more in-person before you left so that we could have improved things for you. A few specific notes: This last year we advanced several existing team members into new departments and the majority of those promotions were women. As far as compensation goes, many other employers don’t provide some of the benefits we offer like a stock option plan, weekly work from home days, a bay-front office with water views, nature trails for walking meetings, and sponsored team outings. We know there’s always room to improve, but we do our best and have evidence to support that the full comp package is in line with the market. Regarding organization — you’re right — processes are not as established at an early stage company as they are in larger corporations. It’s not for everyone, but it can be invigorating (and even rewarding) for some. With that said, we are continuing to improve on that front as we evolve. Lastly, you are also correct that we need more diversity in our leadership team. This is something we are actively working on and will continue to do so as the company grows. Reach out any time you’d like to discuss more of the above; I’d love to hear from you. Dan

Pros

Work from home and flexible work schedule.

Cons

As the company rapidly grew, they lost sight and control of employee satisfaction. The interpersonal relationships were hollow and fabricated. It is clear certain teams hired based off of favoritism. Not a place to thrive if you are BIPOC.
