Pros

It kept a roof over my head. Nothing more.

Cons

If you want to work for a company with integrity, respect for customers and staff alike, morals, structure, training and culture, please avoid Castle Water at all costs. They have none of those. Check their google and io.reviews to see what customers think of them (avoid trust pilot as this site is heavily influenced by the company and is not a fair representation of their service). Castle Water harrasses and bullies customers to pay and has zero customer service capabilities. They only care about making money off customers. Staff are forced to take on extra responsibilities with false promises of being appropriately rewarded at the end of the year, when this does not happen. I've seen the CEO shout in the face of his employees and runs the company with a culture of fear. Disgusting. Immoral back billing practices, leak allowance practices etc serve to extort customers and profit from their misery. Someone needs to whistle blow to Ofwat, unfortunately, they are a toothless regulator who have no power unlike the gas and electricity industry. Horrible company.

Pros

Some amazing people work there. The business shows a clear preference in promoting from within so the opportunities for advancement are there if you can show results. There is generous sick pay, bereavement leave and maternity cover plus some other minor perks. Pay is quite decent and I have never had a request for annual leave turned down

Cons

Systems and processes routinely rolled out without proper consultation with the staff who will be using them, resulting in issues for customers and staff alike. Lessons still not learned. High staff turnover, largely due to the CEO micromanaging every aspect of the business, including all salaries and bonuses. While undoubtedly very good at his job, he consistently fails to take advantage of the talents of the great people that work for him. Unless your department head/director has some clout and can push back on the CEO to just allow you to get on with work, your department is likely to become quite dysfunctional. I've seen some very deserving people go without bonuses despite putting in incredibly hard work, for what is quite frankly ridiculous reasons. This made a terrible and lasting impression on my entire team and was a severe blow to morale. Also nepotism at play. They're not necessarily bad in their respective roles, but they're not necessarily great either.
