Work was great but Culture not great - Social Worker/Case Manager CatholicCare Employee Review

Everyone who works in client-facing roles and/or has appropriate qualifications are fantastic. On the large part, the staff at CCV are kind, compassionate and competent. I am hopeful that with greater governance, CCV will improve.

I had expected greater integrity transitioning into a not for profit organisation. Unfortunately, my management was erratic, dictatorial and oftentimes absent. The department I was in promoted opaque reporting to reduce accountability. People and Culture (HR) was weaponised at the expense of best practice and staff wellbeing. And a siloed and hierarchical culture was employed to control personal reputation/s.

A caring team that is dedicated to supporting clients in need, even through COVID-19. Such a lovely place to work with opportunities for career development and colleagues that are supportive, encouraging, kind and thoughtful. The work is always diverse and it's great working with people who have such varied experience and backgrounds.

A big workload! The work never ends but it's certainly good for keeping busy.
