Pros

They have some great staff in entry level and mid-level positions. It's a fun venue to plan events at since it has multiple indoor and outdoor options for guests.

Cons

Bad management at the top level. Current General Manager is volatile and yells at the staff. No accountability for upper management from the above venue corporate level staff that work with ASM Global and no accountability for poor behavior of upper management on the venue level from HR. The Human Resources Coordinator functions more like a personal assistant and friend for the GM to vent with on a daily basis instead of protecting the business she has been entrusted with. GM regularly mentioned having control issues and trust issues which she used as an excuse to micromanage the staff. Gossiping amongst upper management was also a big problem which cripples the work culture from the top down. Pattern of bullying and micromanaging some of the staff/managers to try to get them to quit so they don't have to deal with corporate questioning why the turnover is so high. Past event managers/coordinators had very similar experiences that led them to quit. Would not recommend working for this venue with the current management in place. Overall, it's a very toxic environment to work in.

Pros

Significant community impact and a great venue for South Bend. Amazing Operational/Maintance Personnel

Cons

The leadership at Century Center is fundamentally broken. Beyond the lack of support, there is a blatant disregard for professional boundaries and ethics.Instances of upper management engaging in inappropriate relationships with subordinates, which creates a 'favorites' culture and a highly uncomfortable, hostile work environment for everyone else. If you aren't part of the inner circle, you are treated as an afterthought. The lack of accountability at the top makes it impossible to thrive or even feel respected. It’s disheartening to see a public-facing organization allowed to operate with such a toxic internal culture. Professionalism and dignity are non-existent here.

Pros

Good PTO policy right away.

Cons

Upper management will run that place into the ground. They only hire their friends to the director level who are not qualified. You ask for help and are just told to figure it out. No conversations are had to fix anything, it is just becomes an immediate reprimand. If they do not like you, you are immediately on the "hit list" and they will make it a mission to get you out.
