Pros
- Strong Onboarding Experience - Competitive Salary
Cons
When this job was sold to me during the interview and during the initial inductions, Certero made it clear that with their product (which is one of the best in class!) the company was expecting to rapidly grow over the coming months/years. In order to support said growth their recruitment plan focused around getting experienced, proven individuals from larger businesses, to improve their internal processes and procedures, so when the growth happens naturally - the company can cope. On paper this was a very exciting business plan to be a part of, however the reality was starkly different. Upon completing my inductions and beginning to take ownership of my area of the business it quickly became apparent that fulfilling my role was simply, not possible. Whenever I identified an improvement opportunity (which I was actively encouraged to as part of my probation goals) it was met with discouragement and skepticism by Senior Management. This was very confusing to me, I did not and still do not understand why the business would go out of it way to recruit senior staff from large enterprises and then not trust their opinions or judgements. In particular, while I can appreciate them wanting to ensure the new joiners settled and justified their roles first, the responses weren't of understanding - they were openly hostile in both tone of voice and body language. Even in meetings where you had been asked to collaborate with colleagues on new ideas, if it didn't fit senior management's view of how to do it, you were very quickly made to feel negative about even suggesting it. I'd also seen on Teams calls colleagues openly criticised by more senior members of staff for their approaches, when they were simply trying their best and an approach was not documented. It was a bizarre situation to be in when proudly displayed in the office is the company's motto - Connect, Communicate, Collaborate - a motto they do not actively practise based on my experience. Overall there is a very toxic work environment at this business, even in my time relatively short time there I saw multiple people leave as a result of it and looking at other reviews here from even several years ago it appears this is a long term problem that Senior Management (who have created this) have no intention of fixing.
