Pros
Checkbook is an innovative fintech company with a huge ceiling for growth and professional development. As an Engineer, not only are you exposed to so many different opportunities, but the individuals there are very open to listening to you as well. Checkbook is a unique opportunity, unlike most companies where there is so much red tape. Working directly with the VP and C-suite individuals to shape business needs through the power of tech was an unbeatable experience. My coworkers were also some of the kindest and most friendly individuals I have had the pleasure of working with in my entire career thus far.
Cons
As an Engineer at a startup, you have to wear many hats. One day you could be working on infrastructure and the next you may be working on updating an internal system or process. You may help triage direct client issues for customer success. If you are looking for a role where you would like to focus on a single process or project over many months, this experience is not for you. Checkbook's startup nature requires its Engineers to be agile and ready for anything.
