Pros

Great mission Good teamwork within own team

Cons

Management only wants “yes” people in leadership roles. They have lots of very good qualified Epic analysts to be considered for internal promotions. Yet instead they are passed over for people who know nothing about the software. Management tries to talk about how employees can work from home but in reality there are a ton of rules so that it isn’t used as much as it could be. For example, can’t wfh two days in a row. Must always have a team member on site (so if a teammate takes a day off, you might have to come onsite for them), if you take a day off one week, you forfeit a wfh day, etc. They don’t value that good analysts are hard to find. When they leave, you can’t simply replace them by someone with no epic background. A good analyst is more than getting an epic certification.

Pros

-great managers -non-interpreting staff very familiar working with an interpreter -policies and expectations set for most situations -exceptionally developed department (which includes a senior director) relative to other hospitals, which often lack even a basic interpreting department

Cons

-work volume; often few breaks, definitely not enough to do anything other than work-related tasks (e.g., study for class, make a personal phone call) -inflexible schedule -work flow heavily dependent on coworker proactivity -leadership structure (managers over leads over interpreters) can result in micromanagment
