Pros
The building and campus are beautiful. The children love the Specialty Classrooms such as bowling, cooking, modern dance, and the gym. They have options for the children all over the building allowing them to be creative and learn through hands on experiences.
Cons
The current Director is unprofessional and needs a lot of coaching. She is unfair and nontransparent. She allows certain employees to get away (a small smack on the hand) with certain behaviors while write-ups and termination letters are handed out like candy to other employees. For example, she has allowed one particular employee to come into work intoxicated more than once with no consequences or documentation; while terminating another employee that has personal complications that would cause her to come into work late some days. She harasses some employees about dress code while others are allowed to wear whatever outfit they want. She puts more focus on things or individuals that are insignificant while there are children with major behavioral issues or children with possible abuse. It takes months of conversations and teeth pulling it seems to have management pick up the phone and call authorities for further advice or simply just to report it. When management is asked questions, everything is refereed back to the curriculum coordinator. So lets ask, who is really running this school? There is a problem when the director is asked a simple question , and she directs the employees to other management. The only help received from management on any situation , is STRICTLY from the Education Specialist. It is sad that the teachers do not receive the help and assistance from management when there are over five individuals in management. Sadly, more than half the technology in the building is broken and has not been repaired in months. During tours, they advertise tablet time weekly when in reality that has not been available in most classrooms in months. Lights go months without being fixed; whether its library lights, classroom lights, ect. When it comes to receiving supplies for upcoming activities and lessons, teachers do not receive what they need, and if/when it is received they get it too late or not at all. (Corporate is always behind when sending enhancements or curriculum workbooks. Management is also notorious for not sending home sick children, whether it be colds, flu, pink eye, or other illnesses. The only reason children would be sent home is if they had a fever and even in that situation, they leave it up to the parents if they want to come and get their child. Therefore, when sick children are not sent home that allows the illness to spread to the other children and even the teachers, and when teachers call off due to being ill, it can lead to write-ups from the director for not coming to work or even grief given over the phone from management for being sick. We all understand that no childcare center is perfect, but there are multiple things that could be better if management had a more team player mindset.
