Pros

Having given me a chance with zero industry experience, I am forever grateful to City Square Associates. Privy to my work in this small, charming establishment, it used to be the old grind for me, where I once felt unimportant & underappreciated. In contrast, City Square Associates is one of those Boston beacons that sheds the dreaded corporate drone experience for its employees...& exists too for an even greater good (read further*). It allowed me the rare freedom to utilize my personal strengths instead of keeping them dormant. This company fosters an encouraging team climate that allows you to flourish personally as you grow, professionally. The level of growth that this company affords, in this regard I find rare in corporate Boston or any major cosmopolitan business hub. Unlike many companies, City Square is not a harsh, hostile climate. Staff supported one another & always lifted each other up instead of tearing each other down. If mistakes were made, staff always did their best to go through the problems step-by-step & always offered encouraging solutions which promoted greater productivity & sustained teamwork. As long as you're a team player & amenable to constructive input with the best-intentions, you would flourish. My time at City Square provided the base I needed to develop personal skills in time management, team building & industry know-how. The owner is a respected & well-liked market research figure but is also a philanthropist: apart from market research, the owner parlays an altruistic disposition by way of the company's own special fundraising projects that benefit charities citywide. They give thousands to local charities annually.* Knowing I worked in a place that also exists for the greater good gave me a good feeling being there. Criticisms of my work had always been constructive & encouraging: I did not come in as an expert in market research, so this proved to be most valuable! I was never coddled & was always challenged to problem-solve by encouraging me to take full initiative. This company also gives one the opportunity to meet noted figures in the field & to interact directly with them for important networking potential. Even if one has no experience in market research, this company will generously provide for you opportunities, ones that have proven immeasurable for me.

Cons

If you need to be coddled, cannot take initiative, take things the wrong way &/or are not detail-oriented, this company is not for you. Initiative & a positive attitude are IMPERATIVE there. Like everyone, I had to be corrected intermittently in any given number of tasks (which I took) but I did notice that some of the "transient" staff (temps &/or employees who simply came & gone, mainly younger) did not like to be corrected, therefore, had a harder time. Because things can happen at the drop of a hat - & because owner/operator allows employees free reign, in logistics - your mistake is your own. You are responsible for your own faux pas, so issues by your own doing can arise & therefore you're expected to fix it. Because it's a true team there, one cannot succeed & mishaps can prove a setback for everyone if you're lazy, not detail-oriented or if you wait for others to initiate things for you. You have to be hands-on & empathetic to the whole team & not be selfish by focusing on your own details that benefit only you during any logistical moving parts. If you're not lazy, selfish, inconsiderate & can appreciate constructive criticism, you'll find a dedicated team there who will lift & support you & will go through things with you, step by step. Also, if you can't take constructive criticism well, it will not be a right fit. Staff will always be supportive & helpful but hey seem to only really need people who are "on it," which includes being flexible to accept necessary & important input by them, so that your work can run more smoothly &/or efficiently.

Pros

There were only a few nice people there.

Cons

Did not pay me enough to work in a dual-role. Majority of the employees here were cold and distant. They don't welcome you at all. The CEO sucks at communicating. He is also fake because he will look at you with a smile when he is really backstabbing you in the back.
