Pros
The firm is willing to hire recent college graduates with no prior industry experience, which is a great opportunity. Firm is on the small side, which keeps interactions a bit more casual and lighthearted. Pretty good benefits package. Good work/life balance if paired with the right legal staff.
Cons
Training can be informal, scattered, and incomplete. Supervisor not fully knowledgeable or aware of job functions and expectations from legal staff. Pay is far below industry standard. Complete lack of transparency on firm-wide decision making. Little to no opportunity for career advancement, and a lack of clear criteria for promotion/pay increase. Poor communication from leadership to support staff resulting in a work culture of rumors and gossip.
