DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY - Sales Representative Clean Energy Educators Employee Review

Pros

They sometimes pay for free food and other "incentives" to get employees to work harder, but in all honesty, most of the people there wanted to see that return come in the form of a paycheck bump instead.

Cons

Too many to count... First off, this line of work is terrible. The idea of working as a door-to-door salesman, even though they try to drill it into your heads that you're not a salesman when you literally are, is retrograde and overall just horrible for a lot of reasons. Homeowners do not like door-knocking salesman. They just don't. No one wants to be bothered and pressed for information about their personal lives and sold on an idea or product that they never asked about in the first place. As a sales representative for this company (they prefer the title "lead setter" instead), you go around neighborhoods all day in the hot sun or in the freezing cold rain/snow, (yes, they actually expect you to work long hours in those conditions), and bombard homeowners with information on going solar. Now, I don't personally believe that going solar is a bad thing, because it isn't, but it's definitely not for everyone. However, with Clean Energy Educators they expect you to believe wholeheartedly that solar is the best possible solution to any problem, and they force you to surrender any preconceived notions about solar energy or the benefits/cons of it. They like to believe they are the experts here, but in my experience with this company, I've come across engineers, real estate agents, and even solar panel developers, they've all said how flawed solar technology can be and how it does not always benefit homeowners. So, who are you going to be believe, the real experts or the people that are trying to sell you something? I stopped believing in CEE's message after about the third week. Other than the constant b.s. they push on you daily, the pay is terrible as well. If you have bills to pay, rent, car insurance, utilities, etc. DO NOT work for this company. You will not see near enough return on the hours you work out in the field. The only people I could see this line of work financially benefiting are high school seniors who need a little bit a job experience or some cash to add to their miscellaneous funds. The hours are horrendous as well. In the beginning, during your first week of training, they pump up this job so well by saying that: 1) you make your own schedule, and work the hours that YOU want to work 2) that there is never someone watching over you making sure you are working (that's to give you peace of mind) 3) you have total freedom over where and when you work. Sounds nice right? ALL of it are lies. In the end, I worked for this company for several months and witnessed a new group of young people getting hired and others leave constantly. This company has the worst turnover rate I have ever seen, and I have worked for over twenty different companies. There's a reason why so many people quit this job after a week or two and it's not because they're not competent sales reps. Save your time and keep looking for a job elsewhere. That $20/hour b.s. will see about a 30% tax cut in their bi-weekly paycheck. Plus they deduct hours for any and every possible reason, which I'm certain is illegal. I've looked into it myself. Unfortunately, this company's not worth the litigation battle.

Cons

No clear structure All management is remote and you’ll only see them once a month when they fly in a for a few days The commission is a joke, don’t count on it. They dangle that over your head to keep you there but you’ll never see it. Constant turnover, guys last the most 2 weeks.
