Pros

If you work on main campus is a nurse you will see and learn so much, it’s a great resume builder The educational opportunities offered for nurses can be good when available and your manager allows you to take the courses

Cons

Not enough staff, meaning nurses, EVS, phlebotomy, EKG techs, aides, and secretaries, so PTO is denied, and you will always work short with management in the numbers, and be working four roles instead of one, and May get sent to help out other hospitals with no orientation Not enough supplies, and not just PPE but literally everything is out- sani wipes, port access kits, commodes, etc Constantly working short staffed even on fully staffed floors because other units are so short staffed you float to keep them barely functioning at 1:6 ratio for nurses There are bugs and mice in the hospital all over the place Pay for parking and no reimbursement on using public transit The benefits were probably great in the 90s but now are laughable- $250 copay for the ED, scheduling a primary care appointment 6 months in advance, no real tangible discounts

Pros

Health insurance and maternity benefits are great, though some people have been aggravated by the addition of a deductible in 2026. There is also decent tuition reimbursement, but you need to carefully read all of the policies as the wording can be tricky and even HR doesn't understand all of their own policies.

Cons

Pay seems inconsistent and raises are a joke, getting lower and later every year. PTO is decent but keep in mind that getting paid for holidays comes from that PTO and plan accordingly. HR is a complete JOKE! They never answer, don't seem to understand any of their policies, and have no idea what they are doing. It takes weeks to get ahold of anyone, and they are the farthest from helpful I've ever experienced. Retirement matching is based on years of service, they will put the money in the account but only vest after 3 years so don't count on the amount it shows unless you know 100% for sure you will be there more than 3 years.
