Pros
I'd probably rank 4.5. Specialize in what I am good at. Challenged in all projects. No two jobs are the same it seems. Always something to challenge my brain. Some jobs are simple, some are hard. Nice mix. People are great to work with. Some are challenging...but where can you work at a 80+ engineering firm and everyone is "great to work with". Clients are demanding but the team I work with seem to work well together to get the job done. Company is flexible with schedules. Get your work done, not too complicated. Travel is expected in this job and is what you make of it. Some like it, some hate it . I tend to like it. Principals are approachable and actually work don't just do business stuff. It's nice to interact with the company owners. I feel supported in my job well. Great team. Great company for a motivated, get stuff done, proactive, want to stay busy kind of person. Principals are very accommodating for personal needs/reasons. The comment above about get your job done above really goes hand-in-hand with the accommodations shown. Even before Covid, the Principals are accommodating when personal needs/reasons happen.
Cons
Ups and downs of project work - construction slow, we are slow. Need more meaningful tasks when slow. Clients are demanding - both a pro and a con - sometimes its hard to juggle Need to learn more about what Principals are doing from the business-side of things. President has done better with sharing but should share more.
