      Pros

      Prestigious institution, sometimes relaxed environment, academia style pace. Opportunities to work on interesting projects.

      Cons

      Incompetent upper admin, has incredible contempt for students and faculty. Some departments just coast on the university brand name and desirable location in NYC, putting little to no effort in mentorship. Expense and funding management is a bureaucratic nightmare.

      Pros

      My job with the Columbia Population Research Center is fully remote, which is a great perk. I can also create my own schedule and work any day of the week.

      The pay could be better.

      The work when I had it was amazing, I really appreciated it for what it gave me.

      Cons

      Unfortunately, with the change in management came zero transparency and rules for thee, not for me. It's led to really weird decisions.
