Pros
Great networking opportunity with customers if able to create rapport with recurring guests. Fairly renowned fine dining restaurant. Would say that 90% of future employers/interviewers will easily recognize it on your resume (100% if based out of New Orleans). Ms. Lally and Ms. Ti were wonderful co proprietors and really helped inspire work ethic and values I carry with me today (many of the staff didn't appreciate Ms. Lally and Ms. Ti for their traditional views). They are also very well connected in the city and have always been quick whenever I had a favor that needed to be asked.
Cons
Poor scheduling management. No work life balance. If you don't sniff countertops and stay out until the next day's morning shift you will not be fully assimilated with your fellow coworkers. If it is just a job to you I would not work here. There is a visible difference between those who are career based and those just passing through. Those passing through are rarely given much respect and decency unless they stick around long enough. Asinine seniority driven workplace environment. No holiday pay. Essentially forced to work every holiday as well. Haven't been back in years, but the work environment is a lot like the quality of the food/service itself when I worked/dined there. Outdated and not worthy of the prestige it receives from general public. (Have heard positive things about new renovations and dining experience recently, when I worked there it was essentially a tourist trap).
