Brilliant yet humble and kind colleagues, just like the students we serve. Enviable location and reputation. Speaking as a staff member, I'm very happy with my salary and benefits (my sense is that teachers are well compensated, too, but I don't know that market as well]. Vacations, summer hours and work from home flexibility are great.

Teachers and staff, like the students, hold themselves to high standards--which I appreciate. They inspire me to do my best work and are very supportive. That said, the pace of the school year is demanding.

The students are very keen to learn, organized, thoughtful and often really participate in their education and community. They love being at the school.

Pressure is intense, and there's a drive for homogeneity and uniformity in the faculty. It is a tiny community, so you are either one of them or not one of them. There is a lot of noise and choas in the building, and no place to work quietly, talk privately, or even think. Being a student is wonderful, but being faculty is exhausting, depressing, and grinding - you are always worried you might misstep.
