Pros
The youth you will meet have real needs, real trauma, and have real emotions. Nothing within your training will prepare you for dealing with the young men and women assigned to CPA. The pro is, if this is your passion it will show and you will grow.
Cons
CPA directors and top executives miss the mark when it comes to centering blackness. 75-80% of the youth receiving services are black and latino. Knowing the stats, centering blackness demands that we create and design policies and practices that intentionally lift up and protect them. Being Culturally Clueless isn't a con, hiring majority minority then marginalizing their culture is the con.
