Very low pay - Medical Records Technician Compass Oncology Employee Review

Pros

People are generally nice although it is a high stress environment so clinical staff can be short with admin staff sometimes.

Cons

Very low pay and very low annual raises, they do not account for true inflation so the longer you stay the less value your paycheck has. You also do not get separate sick time from your PTO so in addition to only having a handful of paid holidays (new years, memorial day, fourth of july, labor day, thanksgiving, christmas), you also get a very regular amount of PTO that you have to use if you're sick or have appointments. So you generally have way less PTO than the average person and there's a looming threat of needing to save it just in case of sickness. This combined with general short staffing really sets you up for very poor work life balance. It is not sustainable for most.

Pros

Amazing physicians and team. They really care about their patients, mission and values. It has a community feel and the patients are special I am proud to work here.

Cons

Lean staffing when people are out. Benefits are good, but expensive for family coverage.

Pros

Lovely patients, rewarding work, some really good people in management (better than I’ve had anywhere else), PTO, employer-paid lunches on occasion, wellness program that helps with insurance premiums, and some really fun and sweet coworkers.

Cons

Some coworkers can be really rude and condescending (I’ve seen this w/ a few people in billing and scheduling). Not sure if that’s intentional or what. Minimal work life balance, 8-5 every day with next to no holidays off is a lot to expect to only pay some $50,000 per year. That salary is poverty wage in PDX, this is 2025, not 2006. There are opportunities for lateral moves within the company but no real growth opportunities, I believe this is why there’s quite high turnover with admin staff.
