Pros

Great Mission, very hard working colleagues

Cons

This organization does not always align its practices with its stated values. They have a pattern of laying off senior employees in favor of younger hires, which has impacted diversity. Additionally, employees are sometimes cut off from systems abruptly, and there appears to be a tendency to protect underperforming staff rather than address issues transparently.

Pros

Amazing mission Dedicated and talented staff Great benefits and work/life balance This organization has outgrown its small-nonprofit roots into a big national force to be reckoned with and some more experienced employees have been grumpy and had trouble adjusting to not being able to just walk into a CEO's office anytime they want. As a result some have left and some have been laid off resulting in a much more pleasant and supportive place to work.

Cons

It's a job so just like anywhere else it's not perfect, and it's what you make of it. If you think you're just going to "retire in place" and run out the clock on your career while making a really good salary this place isn't for you.

Pros

The mission is great, the work is rewarding and it's 100 percent remote.

Cons

What was once an amazing and compassionate organization went to HELL since President/CEO Kim Callinan resigned in September. The so-called 'chiefs' viciously took over the organization like hyenas eating their prey. They fired two loyal and hardworking senior employees, they laid off six colleagues without notice, the weekend before Thanksgiving. The interim President/CEO does little to lift morale. People are scared, they do not trust the leadership because they lack transparency. The People and Culture Chief, who boasts about 'Diversity. Equity and Inclusion' has no diversity in his staff, he only hires African Americans like himself. The Community Engagement team led by Chief Brandi Alexander feel privileged, untouchable because their chief allows it. The organization rewards problematic people instead of praising those who work really hard to keep their jobs. Charmaine Manansala, the Chief of Advocacy and Outreach is known for yelling and belittling her staff until she makes them cry. HR simply turns a blind eye. The Mar Comms team, once a team of senior professionals, now consists of a group of young adults trying to build a resume to impress their Chief Mickey MacIntyre, they guy who recently laid off their six colleagues.
