Pros

Good amount of paid time off. IT training available, of course on your time. That's about all.

Cons

No career path available. Low pay, no pay raises and subject pay cut. Over use of your personal vehicle to run service calls. Tremendous administrative overhead on every task. Huge disconnect between corporate management and actual environment in the field when dealing with customer issues and their processes. Your team lead and manager are too overwhelmed with reporting to be much help. Management uses a shotgun approach blasting everyone for issues that were created by only a very few people. Everything is understaffed. There is a lot of working off the clock. You will have to work through lunch to keep up with the work load. In other words eating fast food as you drive one site to another. If you agree to work for CompuCom you automatically exempt yourself from any class action suit involving labor relation issues. In 2000 when I started it was a good company to work for. Then Compucom got sold fours times during my nearly 18 years. The worst owners were Thomas Lee Partner's Private Equality Firm. They cut my pay by 18% and eliminated pay on performance bonuses. reduced contributions to the 401K and the health insurance options disappeared. The currently health insurance is very expensive by the time your meet the deductibles. For me it was 31% of my year income. You are expected to keep current on IT certs although you will not be paid for the certs you hold. A lot under the table cheat sheets are passed around for certification test. The company needs you certified to get warranty revenue which you will never see a penny of. When I started in 2000 we got pay on performance bonuses but later this would be eliminated by corporate. I work in leadership role for a year or two and it is a mess. A lot of under-educated managers who only know how to follow vague directives and little understanding of a field tech's struggles to be successful. I was on the BB&T account my entire career. They were great until about a year ago. Their IT management is hostile, a very convoluted admin process and seem to go out of their way to setup a CompuCom field tech to fail. Too many former CompuCom employees working in BB&T's IT department with an ax to grind with CompuCom. CompuCom is not a pleasant place to work anymore if you are on the BB&T account. You will come to hate it everyday. Not a good way to make a living. I am sure once BB&T is done with the Thin Client project CompuCom will be lead out the exit door at BB&T.
