As an intern, existing employees did not train interns; often times, they withheld training information and often withheld workload. Asked owner if I could move to the networking department, answer was no, due to the fact that they 1) only had a limited number of networking projects, and 2) those networking projects were so large in terms of what it meant to the company, that he didn't want to jeopardize those projects by allowing interns to assist with the projects. Also, no advancement if you want to work here-- sure it's good for "experience", but when you've already been trained and certified, and have the experience, why intern? There was one gentleman there, at the time, who had been an intern for over a year (and he had no other paying job). I don't know how his patience held up, or if he's still there (this was about two years ago), and he would often make work for himself to do. In the meantime, seemed that the owner/manager was only in it for the profit (I'm a Veteran; he mentioned to me during our "interview" that he would get reimbursed half of my salary through Veterans' work programs if he hired me as a regular or even part-time employee... but multiple times I asked for more work (network projects, etc.), to no avail). I was reduced to taking out trash and sweeping. Did enough of that in the military.
