Good pay, merger creates a lot of issues - Anonymous employee Constellation Energy Employee Review

Pros

The pay and benefits are decent but this has been slowly shifting. Now pensions of legacy CCG employees are being removed in certain areas. Decent vacation and sick.

Cons

As mentioned, they recently have been removing the pension in areas of the company even to the old constellation employees (with merger stayed intact until now). Management promotes those whom they favor and not on skill which is very evident in some areas. It's a little bit of sink or swim. High turnover rate of extremely valuable employees creates issues. Also a more flexible work schedule would be appreciated. Must work typical 9-6 unless you have a child in which case it seems okay to leave 30min-1hr early

Pros

Coworkers are all intelligent and overall good people to spend 12hrs a day with.

Cons

The department is perpetually understaffed. You’ll never actually work an 8hr shift, because no one is dumb enough to vote for that schedule. There’s not enough operators to fill the schedule without being forced all the time for 16hr shifts. Be prepared to be forced for OT on a regular basis even with a 12hr schedule. If your family is important, then this probably is not a good long-term plan. You’re going to miss sports, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, etc. You live at work and home is a place you sleep. The company might advertise company holidays, but that just means you get paid a little more for being here on those days.
