Pros
Fast-paced environment with exposure to many areas of the business. I learned a lot quickly, became more operationally adaptable, and gained experience wearing multiple hats in a startup setting.
Cons
Lack of role clarity and structure made it difficult to succeed long term. Leadership changes and constantly shifting priorities created a reactive environment where it was difficult to stay focused or build momentum. There was a strong “sink or swim” culture with limited coaching, feedback, or empowerment. Decision-making was highly centralized, which made it difficult for employees to take ownership or feel trusted to execute the work they were hired to do. Creative ideas were often shut down before being tested, leading to low morale, burnout, and high frustration across the team. The company struggled with boundaries, prioritization, and sustainable management practices. Overall, it felt like employee satisfaction and long-term development were secondary to immediate output.
