Pros
Culture is highly rational, data-driven and innovative. Some of the smartest people I've ever met. Company makes long-term investments in fundamental research, then looks for opportunistic applications.
Cons
"Build it and they will come" is a challenging business strategy. Remote HQ location leads to inward-focus and some interesting politics, including a culture that is indirect and opaque at times - not unlike a stereotypical Japanese firm.
