Pros

This is a great place to begin and evolve your professional career in the marketing industry. The people that work here are some of the greatest and most talented people you will ever meet, including management. They listen to you and want you to succeed in all areas of your job, which is great motivation. Everyone truly cares about everyone in and out of office, so you'll never feel uncomfortable asking for help or collaborating on an account. I'm so happy I started working here as a recent post-grad, because I was able to learn so much and be immersed in so many different types of accounts and client projects. My review would have been very different if I wrote it prior to Nikki Davis taking over the company in July 2018. With her as CEO, she has done a complete 180 in regards to the company morale, environment, and overall work atmosphere, and I was proud to call her my boss. They hold a high standard to the quality of work they do for clients and will always expect the best you can deliver. But if you ever have a concern or issue, she is extremely approachable and will do everything she can to help you. Flexible schedules, just make sure you get your work done on time. Work hard, play hard is the M-O!

Cons

If I'm speaking about my entire work life at Cosmitto, there are a lot of cons. We had 4 different CEO's in the short time I was there, we were underappreciated by 3 out of the 4 CEO's. Sometimes it felt as though we were a content factory rather than an actual marketing agency. But fear not, one amazing CEO rebranded our company and changed the company environment from overworked and unmotivated to empowered and hardworking. A few minor setbacks after his leave of absence, but Nikki was able to start where he left off and made the company (and working for the company) even better. Sure, you could probably get paid a little more at bigger marketing agencies or if you went in-house, but the benefits are still great and the people make it worth it. Clients aren't always the nicest and you may deal with some difficult sticklers, but 'tis the game of the marketing industry, and you'll have your work family to discuss it all with. There are pros and cons to working at a small agency, and it just depends on what you prefer, but if you're looking to gain experience dealing with clients, writing content, or want to find a marketing niche while making genuine connections, this place is for you!

Pros

In the nine months I've worked at Cosmitto, I have learned so much about the digital marketing industry as a whole. I joined the agency during the initial stages of the ownership change, and came in with a background in journalism. My previous work experiences overlapped into certain phases of my position, but there was still a lot about digital marketing that I had to pick up on. Cosmitto's culture is geared toward constant growth in a family-environment, and working with a diverse range of clientele across various industries helped make my transition interesting. I've been allowed to try different duties and responsibilities – even ones that weren't in my initial job description – which have all helped me sharpen my professional skill set. I enjoy the people here. From the top-down, everyone is young, friendly and non-judgemental. If you have an opinion about content or social media strategies you are always free to express it openly. The office is in an ideal location in downtown Pittsburgh around a lot of cool lunch spots, happy hours and coffee shops. And the remote-work policy is nice, too.

Cons

The old office left over from previous ownership was really boring and bland, but Nikki and Matt are in the process of a complete remodel to give it more of a modern agency feel.

Pros

-Flexibility (work from home days, unlimited sick days, 16 vacation days your first year, then two more added for each year of employment, relaxed work environment) -Benefits (health, vision, dental, 401k) -Fun days (beer and pizza Friday, holiday parties, happy hours) -Casual dress code -Everyone is generally nice and helpful (employees and clients)

Cons

-Disorganization out the wazoo. Seriously, things would change once a week. -CLIQUES. I kept thinking I was in high school instead of a content marketing agency. Everyone is young (22-32), which is fine, but there are some immature folks in the mix who are only there to socialize. -Basically an entry level job factory. They hire you, pay you nothing, make you do more than 40 hours worth of week, then you move on somewhere else with better pay and less work and realize what you've been missing. -Constant concern for your job security because of the budgetary issues and client turnover. Many were let go for a variety of reasons during my time there. -Clients leave left and right. Not sure if it's because the people hired don't receive proper training and don't know what they're doing and clients get annoyed or if the agency charges too much for some of the crap they churn out.

Hi there! We appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts and are happy to report that Cosmitto (formerly known as Community Elf) has made it a priority to address the points you brought up under new ownership. Although we’re still primarily made up of young professionals, we embrace the fresh and innovative ideas that our collaborative team brings to each account. While client turnover is common in agency work, we’ve been lucky to have several long-standing partnerships with clients and are always improving our processes and strategies to increase client retention. Since the acquisition, the new ownership and many of our original team members have had a fresh start! We’re excited about who we are as a company and where we’re going.
