Pros

Most colleagues were friendly and enjoyable to work with. The founder Alex was great too.

Cons

Workload is consistently high, with limited time or structured guidance to complete tasks effectively. Requirements also change last minute. The company lacks mature data processes and robust data infrastructure. For example, data analysts have no SQL Server access, yet are expected to deliver large, complex dashboards quickly. Documentation is also non existent. There is an overreliance on AI tools. There are significant data governance issues due to limited understanding of how these tools operate, and outputs are not always properly reviewed or validated. Management structure needs improvement. New starters receive little to no onboarding, documentation, or training (particularly in data roles). This results in avoidable confusion later when processes and expectations haven’t been clearly communicated. Management can be difficult to reach for support, likely due to their own heavy workload. Job description was also not accurate to what the job turned out to be. I would not recommend this environment for data analysts early on in their careers. The technical expectations are moderate, but the stakeholder management demands are extremely high. The role is a senior-level position without the senior level compensation or support. Career growth as a data analyst is also extremely limited as core tech skills aren't used.

Pros

Craster has some talented and hardworking people, and there are real learning opportunities.

Cons

There are deep cultural issues that make it difficult to thrive here long-term, and they appear to stem from the top. The core issue is a significant gap between the company's stated values and day-to-day reality. The Senior Leadership Team sets a tone that lacks accountability, empathy and consistency. Concerns raised by employees are frequently met with little to no follow-through, particularly when they involve senior executives. There is a clear pattern of protecting leadership at the expense of employee wellbeing, which has a direct impact on psychological safety. This is compounded by incidents of inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour from senior executives that have been met with no consequences. There is a pattern of high turnover that speaks for itself (almost 40% of the business in the last year), and the reasons behind it are not meaningfully explored or acted on. The same concerns have been raised repeatedly over years with little change. There is also a significant overreliance on AI tools across the business. Leaning too heavily on AI-generated output is at odds with the brand's positioning: the bespoke service that justifies the premium price point cannot be credibly maintained when all processes are increasingly outsourced to automated tools. It undermines the brand from the inside out. On a practical level, expectations are high but compensation is below market rate, the office environment is under-resourced for the number of people expected to be there, and flexibility is applied inconsistently across teams. Onboarding and training are also areas that need real investment. For the right person this could still be a good stepping stone, but go in with clear expectations and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself from day one.
