Pros

Inclusive and comprehensive onboarding process. A member of each department took time out to explain to me what they do and how my efforts would make a difference to their work. All tech is provided for a home office setup including monitors, laptops, phones if needed, and accessories. Cresset has a supportive environment through ongoing performance assessments and manager-employee meetings. You can see people in the UK office try to form good rapport with colleagues. I have a good working relationship with my colleagues and my manager. Cresset has a healthy monitoring on these dynamics and values people skills in their employees. The more you get involved at this company with social activities or cross-department work, the better experience you will have. I see comments on Glassdoor saying attendance in the office isn't great but I disagree - people are in the office the majority of the week and there are days where most of us attend and there is a buzz. If you enjoy working from home that's completely okay, there is no micromanagement on this front. The atmosphere on arrival and leaving times is relaxed and this makes the working day feel better. To be within short driving distance of a clean modern office in the countryside is a treat - no long commutes to the city by train is a large Pro. The canteen is excellent, and the staff are friendly and talented cooks. There is a strong focus on employee wellbeing, and an accessible HR team. The internal communications for company posts are regular. People feel comfortable with contributing and are encouraged to do so. Career progression opportunities are spoken about and you will find there is a place for you to grow as the department gets investment to expand. Regular company-wide meetings are exciting and it's clear that the company is growing and moving in the right direction. The product is interesting and genuinely addressing an important challenge. The compensation is fair for the UK.

Cons

Certain team members don't have great people skills or always play ball in acknowledging the workload of others and this shows in meetings. Personalities can affect working rapport and comfortability for taking internal meetings. (That being said, management do a good job of rectifying this by mediating meetings to focus on objectives). The slow sales cycle of the industry can be stalling and make sales operations efforts be perceived as ineffective when meetings aren't booked as fast as liked. (That's ok to get adjusted to as you join the industry - I came from a short sales cycle previously, and have learned a great deal about sales operations and the connections of marketing and sales in a large company, and what to evaluate as performance metrics through the sales lifecycle stages before a meeting is booked). Tangible progress is often stunted by process documents being reviewed and signed off which takes time at a corporate company with multiple people in a hierarchical chain reviewing documents. There can be days where administrative tasks can take up time and the pressing tasks fall behind as a result of this, leading to lack of presentable progress on the key tasks during check-ins with colleagues (that's ok because it is in the company's interest to see what's going on at the bottom and be in alignment at the top with the strategy, this is probably the case industry wide at corporate level so do not be confused about your own performance).

Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and balanced review of your experience at Cresset. We really appreciate the level of detail you’ve provided and the care taken to reflect both the positives and the challenges. It’s great to hear that you’ve found the onboarding process inclusive and also pleased that the support provided for home working, the flexible approach to office attendance, and the atmosphere in our Cambridge office have had a positive impact on your day-to-day experience. We’re especially encouraged by your comments on wellbeing, internal communications, and the relationships with your manager and colleagues. Thank you as well for your constructive feedback on the challenges. You’re right that working styles and personalities can sometimes affect collaboration, and we’re glad you’ve seen management step in to mediate and refocus discussions when needed. If you’d like to chat through your feedback further, please do get in touch with the HR team at hr@cresset-group.com Thanks! The HR Team.
