Pros
-Unique and varied work environment -Usually unsupervised work -Easy interview -Great coworkers & work culture
Cons
Oh boy where to begin... Compensation: -Salary is well below the average for this area -Raises are usually below the cost of living increase -"bonuses" are a joke, but the company likes to pretend they're doing you a massive favor Work roles: -They skew the compensation statistic by assigning you a title but in reality you will be doing other, what should be higher paying, jobs. Example: A front end developer may be tasked with doing back end dev or database development. -Expect your work responsibilities to change, even if you enjoy what you're doing. -Expect to have to fight for your role on a daily basis in order to not have to do the "grunt work" no one wants to do. Mid level managers will back off people with aggressive personalities (TERRIBLE management style). -Expect the mid level managers to not fight for employees, they only serve to make upper level management & customer happy. -Managers refuse to give out concrete roles and responsibilities. Policies: - Things like PTO policies and pay dates will change without formal notice. Very disrespectful to employees with families. They will do things like notify employees they will pay 5 days late a week before payday or notify you of a PTO change while you are on vacation.
