Cons
My experience at DEI Consulting Engineers was overwhelmingly negative due to the toxic work environment that permeates the company. Unfortunately, favoritism is rampant, and the management does little to conceal it—likely because this is a family-run business.
One of the most glaring examples of this favoritism is the stark disparity in salaries. Despite the low pay relative to the market, certain individuals are inexplicably compensated far above others, regardless of experience or qualifications. For instance, a co-op student was paid more than employees with advanced degrees, simply because she seemed to be in the good graces of the management. The supervisor, who is a family member, even went as far as to visit this student's home for dinner, a privilege not extended to others.
Moreover, this student was given opportunities that were denied to more qualified employees. She was taken to site meetings and introduced to clients at an event—experiences that should have been accessible to everyone but were clearly reserved for the favored few.
Overall, DEI Consulting Engineers is an unhealthy workplace where merit and hard work are overlooked in favor of personal connections and favoritism. If you're considering joining this company, be prepared for a demoralizing environment where fairness and professional growth take a backseat to family ties and biased treatment.
