Relaxed environment. If you don't want to work, this is the company for you.

The most convoluted business structure I've ever experience. This company is divided into 3 major business units, which is then sub-divided into smaller units. I am a part of Danfoss Power Solutions - Fluid Conveyance. It seems that all of these different units operate in a complete silo. There is no overall, comprehensive global QMS or SAP training programs. They have no change management system; all of their documents for quality are in one location, regardless of the revision. No distinction between one business unit to the next. Documentation uses abundance of acronyms and vague language. A simple business process is not clearly defined nor is there official training. Finally, the specific plant I work at, has one of the worst quality cultures I have ever seen. The operators and operations management do whatever they want. Most of the operators don't even know what a SOP is, but management changes the SOP and expects operators to just magically know it. No training, no verification, no accountability. No division of responsibility. Quality is constantly put under the gun for things engineering should own. These people don't even know that you need to shut a tool down when it is malfunctioning.

The pay is comparable, and you get a food truck once a month

Cons

A typical day you walk in not knowing what work will pass to you. During the beginning of the month, you may be sent home early due to the lack of work but then be expected to work overtime with only a few hours’ notice. It is also not unusual that a full day’s work isn’t given to you until the last half of the day while your supervisor is micromanaging and pushing to have everything done by the end of the shift. Management and HR are unapproachable providing no assistance in requests for help. They will often make promises that are not kept or are denied when asked about. They do not make accommodations for disabilities, holding the expectation that you will be able to meat their standards no mater the cost to your health. There are 3 different attendance policies that tie together, but hold a different point system, with no ability for employees to check them without going to supervisors or HR, even then you are not sure if it’s accurate. If your supervisor gives you a new schedule, but doesn’t update the system, you will take points for following the verbal change with no ability to dispute them. The change over to SAP was beyond horrific given that they had done one several times before, and no steps were taken to make the next one better. The little bit of training that was received was mostly useless, and what "tools" are available are so vague and hard to find, it makes it nearly impossible to do your job. You are told that if you need help, then ask for it, but when you do, no help is available, or you are requested to reach out to a department, that you have no contact information for. Management holds the expectation that you will uphold their timeline, even concerning things that are out of your control. They show no concern for processes that are not written, picking and choosing who is held accountable for them, and when. Employees are also held accountable for actions of others based on favoritism. Overall morality is extremely low for people on the shop floor due to the continuous change of expectations. Where this was once a good company to work for with good benefits, and a culture that promoted a good work/life balance, it has become a corporate nightmare that hold the expectation of all employees to bend to their will. You were once known by name but now are treated like nothing more than a number with the expectation that you will behave as a robot. Your experience is not taken into account by new management who is brought in to “fix” things. They prefer to micromanage and press aspects of your job that are standard. When they lose an operator of a position, that roll is not filled, but expected to be picked up by others with no consideration of current responsibilities and duties. Clear and precise direction cannot be given due to lack of communication. It appears that HR runs the company, not anyone else.
