Cons
During my time at David Yurman, I was initially excited to contribute to a respected brand in the luxury space. However, my experience was ultimately shaped by persistent challenges stemming from senior management’s approach to leadership and collaboration. One of the most difficult aspects was the consistent lack of respect for my professional expertise. Despite bringing experience and a proven skill set to the role, I often found my contributions minimized or disregarded entirely. This created a discouraging environment where professional growth and innovation were stifled rather than encouraged. The overall leadership lacked clear direction, which frequently resulted in shifting priorities, ambiguous expectations, and conflicting guidance. This instability made it difficult to execute meaningful work or drive initiatives forward with confidence. Moreover, the micromanagement culture was particularly disheartening. My manager often shared overly detailed to-do lists with cross-functional teams, reducing my role to that of an entry-level assistant rather than a skilled professional. This approach not only undermined my autonomy but also eroded trust among colleagues and diminished team morale. While I value the lessons learned and the resilience I developed, I believe the company would benefit greatly from investing in more empowering, respectful, and strategic leadership practices.
