Pros

My direct manager and team were very nice and flexible. Was able to use PTO as needed (under certain conditions) and manager understood when personal things came up. Working remotely is a huge plus.

Cons

Admissions is basically a sales position without commission. You have to make 100 calls a day and try to persuade people to apply and join the school. Your calls are observed and everything is metrics based. It is very clear that the school only cares about making money from students instead of actually caring for them. Working with a student feels like a sales transaction. This is NOT a traditional advising role. Also, you work closely with other departments but no one is on the same page and different people are held to different standards. I would only recommend this type of job to someone who is okay with a sales-centered role and with pressure to produce. Research for-profit schools and understand how they run before joining.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for highlighting the flexibility of the remote work environment and the support you received from your manager and team. We recognize that the Admissions Advisor role is highly structured and performance-driven, and that this approach may not align with everyone’s expectations or how individuals define advising or student support. Being clear about the nature of the role is important to us, and feedback like this helps inform how we continue to set expectations and support our teams. We appreciate your perspective and wish you the best moving forward.

Pros

DeVry Day was a wonderful example of our positive culture, meaningful work, and commitment to making a difference. Welcoming and congratulating graduates allowed me to celebrate their achievements firsthand and witness the impact of the support and resources DeVry provides throughout their educational journey. The event created a sense of community, recognition, and pride that reflected our dedication to student success. Seeing graduates and their families celebrate this milestone reinforced how our work contributes to helping students achieve their goals and create better futures for themselves

Cons

This event was nothing but spectacular!

Pros

Work from home, good benefits, paid time off & the pay.

Cons

They say it’s not a KPI based position but it is. They will not give commission because they say we should be in it for the students and not numbers but the position is solely based on numbers. This is not a warm, team friendly position. Even your team mates are in competition with you. You will work two Saturdays out of the month and sometimes even Sundays and they still won’t be satisfied with your work ethic.
